Joined. Aug 10, 2012. Messages. 2. Aug 10, 2012. #1. I have a 1980 Mercury 150 hp Black Max motor that was run hot due to a bad water pump impeller. After changing the impeller and test running the engine I noticed water seaping from the head gasket area on both cylinder banks.

I was told to use Quick Silver oil and was given two measurements. One person said 50:1 and the other says 25:1. Any suggestions would help.The compression range of these motors brand new from the factory would have been in the range of 110-135 psi with a variance of +/- 15 psi being acceptable.
