Waikomo Stream is part of the atmosphere at The Aloha House. Humpback whales return to the waters off Kauai every winter, to mate and calve their young. You can see the whales from shore, just down the street from The Aloha House. You don't even need binoculars. To spot one, look for a plume of spray against the horizon.
A single beach house, the Gillin Beach House, is available for rent on the beach. The Makauwahi Cave Reserve, famous for its trove of archaeological artifacts, is nearby. The waves seem a little more intense than at Poipu, and the beach is best for hanging out, relaxing, and getting some sun (or shade).
