Duramax ticking noise

I had the oil pan (pacific performance engineering pan )because original pan drain plug is too high and all oil don't drain out. now the noise is gone, I'm thinking the oil pick tube up was hitting the bottom of pan.

It has started making a clicking/ticking sound that can be heard in the cab pretty good and once window is rolled down, it is even louder. Shortly after the headgasket job a ticking noise appeared. I think it sounds like a lifter ticking. Possibly a lifter loosened up a little after it has been running. A friend of mine disagrees. My LMM is exhibiting a slight intermittent ticking noise coming from what appears to be the lower part of the engine. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. When I do hear it, it's not continous either...like a few times per second and then nothing, with no pattern.

Jan 27, 2021. #1. Hello, New to the forum, having issues with a 2019 silverado 3500 I just purchased about 3 weeks ago. The engine has developed a very loud ticking, sounds like its coming from the drivers side. At times you also hear a thumping noise that sounds like its coming from towards the front of the engine.The ticking sound could be a number of things that have already been described, but the combination of ticking/chirping could be as simple as your belt and/or idler arm. I see you are in ND. If your belt is old coupled with the cold temps, that could also describe your problem. It's a simple idea I know.It can become very pronounced right after changing your oil. Sometimes mine is worse right after changing than other times. This last time, no ticking after changing oil. But it is normal as stated above. Chris. Don't ask me how I know, had to have aluminum adapter plate, flywheel flex plate and torque convertor replaced because of torque convertor bolts coming loose ...

I know it’s an old thread, but the L5P in the 2020 is the noisiest, most unpleasant Duramax to date. The thumping, ticking, screeching, and what I’m assuming is injector knock, is almost Unbearable.
